Sharing a little piece of the past… as my friend Anna wrote today: “This song was written in an apartment in north oakland on the fly. Melissa Sweat and I sing but it’s all melissa on this one (ed. note: not really. Anna and I traded writing lyrics and we were pretty much psychically linked); she wrote the melody and harmonica parts and parker is on bass. joe grove sent us drum tracks through the mail and we laid this down together.” The amazing Joe Grove made this video. ♥

I had the fortunate opportunity to play a show with the lovely & talented Kendl Winter in Olympia, WA on this past tour. It was doubly fortunate to hang out at Kendl’s houseboat later and show her some of my music videos—then she asked me to make her one! So here ’tis. I adore Kendl’s song, “Mama Will Buy,” and I hope the video captures the tender spirit of it.

This last tour of 2011 really brought together a rare year in my life which gave me experiences and artistic joys that are hard to conceive. I just feel blessed for this experience to play music, and get to know such diverse and inspiring people along the way. Thank you to anyone who has supported me, for I am deeply, deeply grateful. Magical Mistakes remixes Lady Lazarus

Magical Mistakes (the solo project of Erik Luebs) shifts, cuts up, and creates a startlingly unique soundscape with my song, “Via Elysian Fields: Lake Pontchartrain.” I float in and out amidst natural found sounds, chimes, glitchy tweaks and breakbeats. At one point, Erik has altered my voice to a strangely fulfilling, screaming-eagle-like pitch. It’s a fairly new phenomenon for me, but there’s something really nice about hearing your vocals all spliced and rehashed.
